IMAGES OF NEPAL / Bhaktapur and Patan

Bhaktapur is one of the old capital cities in Kathmandu Valley. Much of the town still retains the old world charm and has the feel of a living museum. The well laid-out Durbar Square (Palace Square) is seen with King Bupatindra's column with the Golden Gate and Palace of 55 windows in the background.

The all-wood Chyasin Mandap pavilion is a showpiece of Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

There's a temple in every corner of Bhaktapur.

Erotic temple carvings on the struts of the Pashupati Mandir.

The 5-storeyed Nyatapola Temple, Kathmandu Valley's highest temple, on Tamaudhi Square in Bhaktapur.

The exquisitely carved Peacock Window of the Pujari Math, seen from a sidestreet off Dattatreya Square.
